Paul Reiser and Buddy Guy

For most people, music is definitely not the first thing that comes to mind when they are thinking about Paul Reiser. However, a little-known fact about the former star of the sitcom 'Mad About You' is that he is a big music buff and a classically trained pianist. His most amazing musical moment came when he had the honor of performing live with legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy. Read Reiser's firsthand account of this incredible moment below:

"First time in Chicago, 1990-something. [I] went to see Buddy Guy at his club – always been a huge fan. Sat right off to the side of the stage. At one point, his keyboard player stepped away, and because I had just the right number of beers in me – enough to lose my inhibition but not all manual dexterity – I hand-gestured to the guy, asking if I could sit in. He said something that didn't seem to be 'No,' so I climbed up, sat at the keyboard and fell in with Buddy and the band. Never felt cooler in my life until Buddy turned around and for the first time noticed me sitting there. His look was a sort of pursed-lipped squint that meant either 'Who let this a--hole onstage?' or 'Well, isn't that a nice surprise – this kid can play!' To this day, I don't know which it was, but for my own mental well-being, I've chosen to believe it was the second one."

Reiser released his debut album, 'Unusual Suspects,' on Nov. 9, which features collaborations with British singer/songwriter Julia Fordham. He's currently in production of 'The Paul Reiser Show,' which should premiere on NBC in 2011. In May 2011, Reiser's new book, 'Familyhood,' will be out.
