Stop thinking that Mother Nature gave you a limited range. This is a lie many vocal coaches tell you because they don't know how to help you through your transitions.

You were born with a great instrument, a fascinating mechanism that allows you to produce beautiful sounds and to sing, believe it or not, a lot of the notes that you can find on a piano. Just think about little children: they can scream, cry, and “sing” high notes all day long without ever losing their voices. Why?

Because they don't ask their brain permission to sing - they just do it!

Then, growing up, we often start singing only in our chest voice (i.e. the voice we use when we talk), without allowing it to go beyond the limits of this register and sing higher.

Mother Nature is generous. You were born with a great gift: your unique tone, and as I told you, the most beautiful musical instrument, not limits.

It's the same thing with another instrument. Let's take a guitar for example. When you got your first guitar, you probably could barely play one chord. Then after studying and exploring your instrument, you started to learn new chords, scales and do things you couldn't even imagine you were capable of. The same applies to your voice. When you start studying, you start discovering a new world. And what is most fascinating about your voice is that, as Brett always says, learning is a lifelong experience. You will never stop learning new things.

At this point you might ask me, “What should I do, then, to sing everything I want in the original key?” I'm sure you will be deceived by my answer: “Just allow yourself to do it!”

Do you think this is too simple? My answer again is: “Yes, it is that simple.”
